Current state of Chicago sports

Chicago fans, it has been almost 3 weeks since the Cubs won the World Series. We are still in shock as well and finally the Championship hangover is wearing off. A predicted 5 million people went to the Cubs rally back on November 4th making it one of the most attended public events in history! And a huge congrats to MVP, Kris Bryant!! That’s some pretty big news for Cubs fans (he is first to win MVP since Sammy Sosa in 1998.) Plus, Bryant is only 24 and coming off his 2015 Rookie of the Year season. A must mention: Anthony Rizzo took 4th in MVP voting.  That all being said, all eyes are already on the 2017 season. Where will Schwarber play? Will Fowler be resigned? These are all good questions that will be answered over the next few months. Full Cubs roster breakdown

Let’s continue the positive tone and mention the Blackhawks! Chicago’s favorite hockey team is now 13-4-2 and playing as well as anyone in the NHL. ESPN even has them ranked #1 in the power rankings last week.  Don’t miss any of the Hawks games this season at 710 and if you are around this Thanksgiving look into the 710 bus trip up to Anaheim on Friday (11/25), the day after Thanksgiving. Call the bar for details (858-483-7844)

The Bulls are also playing well and on their annual Circus road trip (same as the Blackhawks). They are 9-5 now and showing some early season promise with Jimmy Butler taking that next step into superstardom. The Bulls are currently ranked 8th in the Power Rankings.

And now unfortunately, we need to finish on a sour tone not forgetting about our beloved Bears. They are a very disappointing 2-8 coming off 2 losses since their bye week to Tampa Bay and the NY Giants. Kyle Long and Zach Miller are now out for the year with the same possibility for Josh Sitton and rookie Leonard Floyd. This is all on top of Alshon Jeffrey who was suspended for four games for PED’s and will not eligible to play until week 15. This has been a lost season plagued by injuries and bad football. The only silver lining is that it looks almost to be a certainty that the Bears will have a top 5 draft pick in the Spring and next year we may finally have a new QB under center, so long smokin’ Jay! As always, all Bears games will be shown at 710. Come out and drown your sorrows on this disappointing season with other Chicago fans!
